Shreya Kapoor, MD
Associate Professor
Shreya Kapoor, M.D., holds a dual appointment as an Associate Professor of Hospital Medicine, as well as an Associate Professor of Geriatrics, Palliative, and Extended Care at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She is appointed as the Medical Director of the Community Living Center (CLC) at the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS), core Precepting Attending for UCSF Geriatrics fellows, and Attending on the Internal Medicine wards precepting UCSF Internal Medicine residents. She is the clinical lead, and liaison for the UCSF Geriatrics Fellowship at the CLC at SFVAHCS, and partakes in curriculum development, orientation, bedside teaching, as well as medical management. She has practiced as an Academic Hospitalist at the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2012.
Dr. Kapoor has been recognized as an innovative leader and academician in the development of Internal Medicine Residency curriculum. She has previously been core teaching faculty for University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, where she won major accolades amongst medical students and Internal Medicine residents as an educator par excellence. She has been recognized as a strong advocate for resident physicians, and a career mentor for early career physicians. She holds a special niche in working with learners having challenges and recognized for her compassionate approach in constructively guiding learners to success.
As the Medical Director of the Community Living Center (CLC) at SFVAHS, Dr. Kapoor leads and manages a 120 bed unit overlooking compliance with national regulations, as well as enhancing quality of care metrics to provide exceptional care for Veterans admitted to the CLC. In her tenure as the Medical Director, she has improved quality metrics at the CLC, guiding the unit to success and recognition. Having dedicated her entire career to the care of Veterans, Dr. Kapoor has been recognized for her exceptional service to the VA multiple times.
