Sara Obeid, MD, MPH

Assistant Professor

Dr. Obeid is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and a Hospitalist at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Her clinical work includes attending on the inpatient teaching service, surgical co-management, and Faculty Hospitalist Service (FHS). Prior to joining UCSF faculty her research focused on disaster medicine and preparedness in a level I trauma center at Highland County Hospital, a part of Alameda Health Systems; her focus was on system response, multi-disciplinary disaster planning with engineering, nursing, Emergency Medicine, Trauma Surgery and Environmental Services, and hospital administration. Her main research focus as it relates to disaster medicine was conducted with ICU nursing staff.

She has a passion for medical education. Her current interest is in Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) with a focus on vulnerable populations. She is the director of the POCUS Selective for internal medicine residents and offers the Intern Half Day POCUS training. She currently teaches POCUS nationally at various courses including CHEST and Society of Hospital Medicine and is working on faculty development in POCUS.
